In light of the recent US presidential election, we at Baubles From Bones felt that it was only right to address and acknowledge some of the feelings that our readers may be facing. The results and implications of this election weigh heavily on the minds of many, and we wanted to reaffirm our beliefs and aspirations as a publication to you all.
The divisiveness that lies within the roots of our country has been exacerbated and emboldened to the point where an administration that has admonished the dignity and safety of a plethora of different cultural, ethnic, and gender minorities has gained control of not just the presidency, but also the Senate and the House of Representatives. For many individuals in the United States, the next four years—and even further on—will be an era of trials and tribulations. To emerge from the other side of this dark tunnel, we will need to rely on each other and the communities that we have cultivated. At Baubles From Bones, we are extremely proud to have published fantastic stories and poems from authors of different religious, cultural, and sexual backgrounds and identities. Our goal from the very inception of this fun little zine was to create a space for new authors and writers from under-represented groups. That has, and never will change. No matter what rhetoric or legislation is enacted and normalized against people who simply wish to live a peaceful life, whether they are immigrants, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the homeless, or those facing the horrors of oppressive regimes, this zine will always be a safe and inclusive space. The future of our country is going to be a wild and chaotic road for the foreseeable future. As long as we live in the United States under the guise of free speech, our voices invoke a power which makes governments and oligarchs tremble. For now, especially for those who feel hopeless in this situation, all we can ask of you is to do one thing: live. Lean on those around you, know that your voice is heard, and that we will never stop fighting for you. Stay safe -The Baubles Crew
