this breaking of assumptions?


Seascapes, waterfalls, oak groves

coat these cavern walls

in blue-green glory--


no art, no heart

they say of goblins;

the walls speak otherwise.


Towel, soap, bandages, warmed water

wordlessly offered by those

deemed enemies--


thank them

lay the past aside

there can be no homecoming.
